A presentation of paintings and visual works that highlight aspects of Hellenic culture.

Vassilios Sofianidis represents a distinctive case of a contemporary Greek artist, as his role as an Armored Corps officer and his deep roots in the Greek countryside shaped his perception of the relationship between strength and nobility-elements that find their most harmonious expression in the central subject of his painting: the horse. In his works, he seeks to depict not merely the animal itself, but also its energy and spirit, its movement, momentum, pride, freedom, and strength as symbols of dignity and historical memory within Greek civilization. His technique is characterized by detailed rendering of form and a strong atmospheric quality that brings the viewer into an immediate emotional connection with the subject.
He studied under important Greek artists such as painters Christiforos Mellidis (twice awarded by the Academy of Athens) and Georgios Moutsatsos, as well as iconographer Evangelos Kokolios, acquiring profound knowledge of freehand drawing, painting, and Byzantine iconography. He is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and the Painters Association of Thessaloniki. He has devoted himself exclusively to the representation of the horse, using pencil, charcoal, acrylics, and oil paints. His work is a tribute to the free spirit, strength, and nobility of the horse, aiming to highlight the authenticity and the deep bond of cooperation between humans and this unique animal.
